Vista is on the loose

Microsoft released Windows Vista a few days ago (Monday, I think), and I don’t think it’s going to be too popular for a while. For one, it’s too expensive to upgrade, and secondly, most of its “new” features are hardly innovative. You can read two reviews on Vista here:

Apple’s Mac OS X Leopard looks really promising, on the other hand. It’s scheduled for release this spring. On that note, Apple just added colors to the iPod Shuffle line. Cool!

Let it snow?

It has been really cold lately, and it is now beginning to get warmer. I had hoped that it would last a bit longer, because we need some cold weather here in LA. It is winter after all! It would be really awesome if it snowed, although that hasn’t happened here since the 30s or 40s. I heard that it “snowed” in Malibu and other cities nearby.

Widescreen iPod + Phone + Internet

The new Apple iPhone looks really, really cool! It can do so many amazing things, many of them at the same time. (Take a look at the MacWorld keynote to see Steve Jobs demonstrating all of its dumbfounding features.) Admittedly, I would probably not purchase one currently just because I don’t have any use for many of its capabilities, and, probably the biggest reason, I can’t afford it right now. It is, as I said, though, a very, very neat gadget.

Another thing to take a look at is Apple TV. It looks like a promising device, although Apple did try to do this before in the 90s. (You can read about it here.) It didn’t work too well then, but I’m confident that this one will do better.

Happy New Year with a touch of Star Wars

Living in So Cal all my life, watching the Rose Parade has been a family tradition for a very long time, but we had never gone to see it physically. This year, though, I insisted that we go, especially because George Lucas was the Grand Marshal, and because of the marching Stormtroopers of the 501st Legion. (If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a huge Star Wars fan.) Let me just say that it was awesome! The parade doesn’t look anything like it does on TV, but it was still a fun experience.

You would think that living in LA would have permitted me more celebrity sightings, but this was actually the first time that I’ve seen celebrities with my own two eyes, and most of them were no more than twenty feet in front of me! I’m a little star struck! I still can’t believe I saw George Lucas and a whole lot of Stormtroopers. :-) I’m such a geek!
